De Vallei is situated on the De Villiers Family Estate in the heart of the picturesque Durbanville Wine Valley. This proud family has been farming in the Durbanville area for six generations.
The farm is managed by father and son - Koos and Nikie De Villiers. Nikie is the third generation De Villiers farming the vineyards of this farm.
In 2006 winemaker, Nikie De Villiers, pursuit the art in creating a mesmerizing wine of the farm’s finest grapes. He restored the old cellar on the farm, which was once the home of the legendary GS (George Spies) Wines.
De Vallei’s vineyards are about 140Ha of which 100Ha are under vineyards.
Durbanville is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc and 60% of the farm is under this pioneer cultivar. The other 40% consist of Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
The farm has some of the highest vineyards in Durbanville and the cool Southern slopes overlooking the panoramic Durbanville valley, forms the backdrop of De Vallei’s wines.
The farm mainly supplies grapes to a corporative winery. De Vallei uses about 10% of the farm’s grapes, which are carefully selected to create this distinctive, handcrafted boutique wine.
